Mrs. Fadave

Laurie Fadave began college as a film student at San Francisco State University, but graduated with a B.A. in Medieval Studies and received a M.A. in Comparative Literature. From 1976-2001 she taught courses in folklore, mythology and Celtic studies as well as courses at Sonoma State University and the "Storytelling Certification" program at Dominican University. She is the mother of five - all are either past, current, or future Analy students. A few of her passions in life are film, Ireland, Brittany and baseball.


Mrs. Ferdinanson

After graduating from Dominican University, Shauna Ferdinanson began teaching at Rincon Valley Middle School. She has continued her career as a teacher for the past eleven years, the last four of them spent at Analy High School. Mrs. Ferdinanson has a wonderful family including three young sons (an eleven-year-old and twin eight-year-olds). She enjoys soccer, running, cooking and reading and has two dogs and a whole bunch o' fish!

Ms. Kavanaugh

Alta Kavanaugh graduated from high school in Federal Way, Washington, played clarinet, and loved to play sports but not competitively because there were no competitive sports for girls. She learned to ski and still skis. Reading Black Boy in high school changed her life. She graduated from Washington State University - majored in Drama and loved theater arts, speech and English. She performed in a number of plays and the debate team. Before Analy she taught in Hemet, CA at Hemet High School and Alessandro Alternative school. Other than a teacher, she has been a bookseller, dog groomer, drug/alcohol educator and AIDS educator. Her hobbies are old movies, 60's music, cross country skiing and kayaking.

 

Mrs. Olzman

Laura Olzman pursued some different careers after graduating from SSU with American Literature emphasis. Her careers included a maintance gardener and a Montessori preschool teacher. She has been teaching for fifteen years, and believe it or not, her career at Analy began as a student teacher for Mr. Van Diest! Mrs. Olzman has four children ages twenty-five, twenty-two, twenty-two, and twelve. She enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, music and art, as well as spending time with her dog Annee. She also takes pride in being left-handed and is very passionate about her job as a teacher.

Ms. Pifer

Patty Pifer graduated from Humbolt State University with a B.A. and from Sonoma State University with her M.A.. She has been teaching for fifteen years. Before her career at Analy, she worked at El Molino High School and Herbert Green High School instructing in subjects such as English and History. At Analy, she teaches various English, RS study skills and RS math classes.

Mrs. Swanson

Susan Swanson received her B.A. in Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies form UC Berkeley and completed a M.A. in English at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. Mrs. Swanson went on to live and teach in California, Pennsylvania, Texas and Hawaii as well as Germany and Denmark. In addition to English, she speaks German and Danish fluently, although she can read and understand French. She participated in a school-to-career teacher internship with a local high-tech company in Petaluma in 2002 and completed the "Northcoast Educational Technology Leadership" program in 1999-2000. She presented a writing unit she designed called the "Analy High School Murder Mystery" at the "Kids Who Know and Do: Project-Based Learning Conference" in San Francisco in 2002. Mrs Swanson has one son and lives in Sebastopol, and she plans to climb Mt. Whitney this summer.

 

Mr. VanDiest

Paul VanDiest attended college at UOP and Sonoma State University. His major of graduate study was American Humorous Literature from the 1850's. : ) He can be found playing the classical violin at night and weekend at Analy.He has been teaching at Analy for thirty one years and says he feels fortunate.

Mrs. Williamson

Lynette Williamson went to Fresno State, majored in physical therapy, took lots of chemistry classes, and then made the logical next step and decided to teach English. After completing coursework at UC Berkeley and San Francisco State, she earned a Master's Degree in English from Sonoma State. Mrs. Williamson employs her skills in logic to teach Rhetoric and coach the speech and debate team. She is currently the Vice President of the California State Speech Association.
